In January of 2020 we lost a TITAN of ASSP. Chapter member and namesake of the Chapter’s student scholarship David V. MacCollum passed away. David, a former Society President had a 60 year long history in Safety. Some of David’s accomplishments are listed on our scholarship page.
Former Chapter President Mark Grushka had this to say – “One of the giants of our profession passed away in late January…. It was my privilege to know him, learn from him and engage in spirited discussions with him. His contributions to the safety and engineering professions and to the reduction of hazards through effective “Design- Based Safety” will continue to impact society for years to come. He was my friend, mentor and I am a lucky person to have known him. With condolences. Mark Grushka.”

Donors can establish a named academic scholarship or professional education grant fund through the ASSP Foundation. Scholarships and grants advance the safety profession and provide national recognition for the donor. The Foundation manages the administrative details of this program and works with the donor to provide qualified award recipients each year.
